Quotes from Volunteer Hosts last year
"This festival was held in a high school as part of a teacher training. Our town has suffered severe damage during last year's earthquake, and after an evaluation with high school students we found the over half of them were showing signs of severe depression. The POP-UP festival helped teaches learn how to better deal with this situation and provide students with games to get them talking about their feelings" Volunteer in Ecuador
"Festivals were held in the New Kavala refugee camps for Syrians in Northern Greece. We ran a session in the Women's Space, then the women helped us facilitate a session in our community center for the children. We translated new emotions vocabulary into various languages, Arabic, Kurnanji and Farsi. We also improved our own skills using emotions for working together." Volunteer in Greece
"I really loved watching my 5-year old class play with the Emo-Monster cards. I was amazed at how many emotional experiences they've already had and how they could tie the face to the memories and feelings they wanted to share." Volunteer in Japan
"The best part of POP-UPs was the collaboration between parents, teachers and the school. Parents participated with us and they were enthusiastic about helping with the activities. Many times parents came up to me to thank me for this experience because they were able to get to know their children better." Volunteer from Italy
