Growing up, I was always in some sport or other, sometimes more than one at a time, but running wasn’t something I picked up until after college. Since then I’ve done multiple races in multiple distances, from 5k to marathon. I actually learned about Blessons by meeting its founder Khit Masoud at a race, and have been involved in fundraising and volunteering for the charity ever since!
Currently, I only have 2 races planned so far for 2019-the Chicago F3 half marathon on January 26, then the biggest/hardest/most expensive race to date, the North Pole Marathon on April 9. Why the north pole, you ask? Because I thought it would be a crazy and cool (pun intended) thing to do on my 40th birthday month:) And I tend to run better in colder weather than warm, so I figured this should fit the bill!
Blessons provides free mentorship, wellness clinics and educational workshops for all women, in addition to scholarships to disadvantaged, low-income women who are 25 years or older and who have had their higher education interrupted due to challenging life lessons such as; cancer, mental illness, physical or emotional abuse, sex trafficking or who are first generation female immigrants.
TEAM Blessons is made up of amazing participants that run, walk, bike, swim, climb along with coaches and volunteer-staff committed to #EmpoweringWomen at ANY RACE, ANY SPORT and ANYWHERE in the world!
