It's that time of year again - the 2019 Boston Marathon. Last year was my first Marathon and it was an experience I will never forget. Running alongside my Dad, competing with thousands of other runners, all in the face of adversity. My Dad will not be running this year as he has his sights set on bigger milestones - but I will be.
I will also be the first to tell you I don't like running... I actually hate it. However I do like competition. Last year it took me over 5 hours to finish the Boston Marathon. While I was satisfied I crossed the finish line, I wasn't thrilled with how long it took me. This year when the opportunity came knocking on my door to run the Marathon again, I didn't hesitate to jump at the chance.
I'm determined to finish with a better time this year and couldn't be more amped to get back after it. Now I know what it takes and have my sights set on beating my time from 2018.
Here is more about the HCA. They are providing me with the opportunity to run and I could not be more grateful:
Once again the HCA will be rooting for our 9 member team along the Boston Marathon route! Funds raised by these dedicated athletes will ensure the HCA can provide quality programming and education in the visual and performing arts in MetroWest! These funds are used for scholarships, free jazz concerts, free Shakespeare under the stars, discounted children's performances, programs for seniors and adults with disabilities. We can't do what we do without your support.
