Story
  May 18 2019

The 2019 Rainforest Biodiversity Group Bird-a-thon is here! The event will occur on May 18th. This year, is the 13th year of us raising funds for the conservation of rainforest wildlife using the Bird-a-thon format. Over the years we have supported work to protect sloths in Panama, support sea turtle reproduction and reintroduction, nest protection programs for the amazing Harpy Eagle in Brazil, and reforestation in Ecuador.

This year we are raising funds to support a special private reserve in Costa Rica called Las Brisas. RBG colleague, Ernesto Carman, has discovered that the reserve near the Turrialba Volcano is a key stop over sight for migrating Cerulean Warblers. The geography of this site seems to provide both a riparian and montane corridor for migratory birds. Great Green Macaws have also been seen on this and other nearby properties. Ernesto is leading a series of investigations and restoration activities at the Las Brisas Reserve. With your support we can help Ernesto and Las Brisas keep this rapidly decline band of unique Costa Rican montane habitat protected.
