This CrowdRising campaign kicks-off The National Afro-American Museum and Cultural Center's (NAAMCC) 30th Anniversary $30 for 30 campaign. Located in Wilberforce, Ohio, NAAMCC is a part of the Ohio History Connection 58 historic sites and museums system.
For 30 years, the NAAMCC’s mission is to collect, preserve, and interpret the African American experience from African origins to the present day. The NAAMCC collections have become one of the largest of its kind preserved by an institution dedicated to African American history and culture. Materials from the collections are essential components of the institution’s in-house exhibition schedule and have been featured in numerous national and international traveling exhibitions, educational programs, and academic publications. Also of great national significance in the extensive Alex Haley Collection which includes documents, papers, publications, photographs, and artifacts that reflect and document the life, travels, and impact of the renowned author of Roots.
The NAAMCC serves a national audience through programing, supporting visiting scholars and researchers, developing traveling exhibits, and developing educational programing for adults and children. Pieces from the NAAMCC art collection have recently been on loan to the new Smithsonian National Museum of African American History & Culture in Washington, D.C. and the Musée du Quai Branly – Jacques Chirac in Paris.
Your support of the $30 for 30 campaign will allow us to continue to care for our archives and collections. The funds raised will also support our museum education progamming and bus transportation for museum field trips.
