In New York City, 45,000 children have experienced homelessness in the last year - the largest number since the Great Depression. 1 in every 3 children lives in poverty. Association to Benefit Children (ABC) serves some of the most vulnerable children in NYC through innovative, replicable, and compassionate programs that meet the urgent and complex needs of children and families living in poverty.
On November 3rd, 2018, our team will run the Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K to raise funds for ABC's critical programs. Held the day before the TCS New York City Marathon, the 5k starts on First Avenue between 44th and 47th Streets, and concludes in Central Park, where runners will get to cross the famous marathon finish line. Funds raised will support ABC’s Saturday Program, which welcomes children and families from all across New York City on Saturdays during the school year, providing a safety net and lifeline for those struggling with poverty. ABC offers enriching activities for children including music, sports, arts, cooking, martial arts, theater, and dance, as well as various skill-building workshops and trainings for parents (including English Language Learner, GED, and parenting classes), helping them to form social connections, develop support networks, and connect to tools and resources.
