*************** UPDATE **************
Thanks to all the Terlamazing team members and their fundraising efforts, we have bumped the our fundraising goal to $7,500!
The Dover Police Department team is honored to be joining forces with Team Terlamazing! As our police captain, Dave Terlemezian leads by example and makes sacrifices daily to ensure the Dover Police Department is the best that it can be. When we found out about his diagnosis, we immediately went to work joining our two teams. Members of the Dover Police team have many reasons to support this race that include friends and family members affected by cancer. The one thing that unites us all is our respect and admiration for Captain T, a member of our police family.
The following is the Team Terlamazing! campaign segment written by a family friend:
I have the honor of writing the “my campaign” segment for Team Terlamazing participating in the Seacoast Cancer 5K. I have known the inspiration for this team, David Terlemezian, for about 20 years. He is the epitome of strength and patience and possesses what you might expect from a police captain; the ability to lead by example and with heart. His tall, physical presence gives a sense of strength and confidence. Team Terlamazing hopes to see him running the 5K this year, as he did last year when he ran in honor of his father, John Terlemezian, when John was in the fight of his life. Dave, so motivated by his father’s battle with cancer, fundraised nearly $2,000.
His family is everything to him. He is happily married and cherishes his now-grown son. His relationship with his father was very special and the loss of John to cancer on February 4th, 2018 proved to be the greatest challenge in Dave’s life to that point. Dave finds himself now in the grips of a different, more personal challenge; to beat cancer himself! Diagnosed with a rare spindle cell sarcoma in June 2018, he is more motivated than ever to help not only himself, but others.
$5K for 5K: With the support of his wife, Carolann, and while undergoing treatment which has included three surgeries within just 6 weeks, they hope to put together as big and unified a 5K team as possible and raise money toward their lofty goal of $5,000 - well over twice what he raised last year. This year’s Team Terlamazing runs in memory of John Terlemezian, and to join Dave in his fight. You are not alone Terl! The $5,000 Team Terlamazing will raise will go toward the lifesaving and technology initiatives at the Seacoast Cancer Center at Wentworth Douglas Hospital in Dover, NH; the same town where Dave and his family have made their home and he chose to build his career.
Dave is truly honored and very humbled that his colleagues at the Dover Police Department will combine fundraising efforts for this very worthy cause. There is no finer example of a community coming together to support one another than this!
