Who we are:
Ciera is a multifunctional organization, dedicated to providing a tool that is both proactive and reactive in the fight against sexual assault on college campuses. We provide three anonymous questionnaires for survivors, secondary survivors, and third parties, so that everyone will know how to help when someone asks. If someone feels like they don’t have anyone to turn to, they now have Ciera.
Our education component is focused on developing a “crash course” at the start of every questionnaire for a secondary survivor or a third party. Through this feature, we want Ciera to serve as an aid on college campuses to not only discuss the topic of sexual assault and prevention, but to also help community members understand what to do and how to provide support if a friend, acquaintance, or student needs assistance. Being informed can empower individuals to act by reducing the feeling of helplessness when a survivor needs it most.
We are striving to create a space where every survivor can have access to a clear plan on what resources are available on their campus and in their communities following an assault. No one should feel like their only choice is silence.
Putting the personalized plan in place must be on the survivor’s terms. Our tool is not to force or require a survivor to immediately contact every resource or pursue every option. Our goal is to ensure that whenever the time may be that a survivor wants to seek help, they have a trusted resource they can use to navigate the process. They may want to explore some resources more than others. One option may bring more peace than the others. They get to decide.
We are advocating the importance of having a single tool that bridges a significant gap. We want to provide a fundamental education regarding sexual assault and prevention along with the resources available. In doing this, we hope that the narrative on college campuses will shift from one rooted in victim blaming to one of believing survivors and allowing them to seek help confidently and without shame.

How can you help?
Donate to the cause. If you can't donate, spread the word and share the page!
All donations are tax deductible and sponsored by the Edward Charles Foundation.
What will the money be used for?
Each donation will go towards developing the new app with location features, providing a multi-lingual format, as well integrating and ensuring anonymity with the questionnaires. Additionally, all donations will help fund a clinical study to test the completed app. With the involvement of psychologists and experts, we want to ensure that all participants have a safe environment when testing the content of the app.
The larger goal of Ciera is to create versions that will be used in the K-12 education system and eventually provide international versions. Your contribution to this cause is greatly valued.
