Hello, I appreciate you taking the time to read my story. Running the Boston Marathon has always been on my “bucket list” but as many others will also attest to, I just never could take the plunge. I just didn’t have the internal motivation to make it happen. What I have learned is that sometimes, unfortunately, it takes a terrible tragedy to make a shift in your life. This is what caused my shift. Four years ago, on January 22, 2014 I gave birth to 3 beautiful baby boys. They were premature and just not strong enough to survive. About a week later, I buried them, together, and from that moment on was forever changed. I immediately knew I was different, that I looked at life differently and that things would change for me. I valued my husband and daughter more than I ever knew I could. I made professional decisions that allowed me more balance and time with my family. After successfully giving birth to my second daughter, I knew I had to show both of my daughters that I could do anything and that they could too. I continued on my journey to personal growth and development. During the summer of 2017 I decided that 2018 was the year I would check that box off my bucket list. I am turning 40 this year and will run the marathon, as a milestone marker, not just for my birthday but as a way to honor my sons who were stillborn 4 years ago and to show my girls that we are capable of anything!
When I learned about the Ace Bailey Children’s foundation I just knew it was the perfect fit. My 3 sons were not given the chance to fight but so many children are fighting for their their lives at the Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center. I quickly realized that this was a way I could give back. I see children fighting for their lives every day and know that I am extremely fortunate to have two healthy daughters at home. I can only imagine the experience of the family and children that have to be hospitalized. This foundation works to improve the experience of these children and families and to be as comfortable as they can through the building and renovation of various hospital environments to create the softer-side of hospital care. I am proud to represent this foundation and hope to be able to contribute substantially to improving the experiences of those families! Please check out their site to learn more about this amazing foundation: www.acebailey.org.
I appreciate anything you can do for this very important cause!!
