Hello hello!! Come April 2018, I’ll be fortunate to have the opportunity to run the Boston Marathon in support of the Ace Bailey’s Children’s Foundation. Having been able to attend the annual Face Off for Ace event in previous years, I couldn’t be happier to support such a great cause. For those that don’t know, Ace Bailey Children’s Foundation focuses on the well-being of hospitalized children at the Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center in Boston through the building and renovation of hospital environments that improve the family-centered and softer side of hospital care. Founded in memory of Ace Bailey, the former Bruin and 7-time Stanley Cup winner as both a player and a scout, to perpetuate his deep caring for the happiness of children who find themselves facing off against some of life’s most difficult challenges. I strongly encourage you to check out www.acebailey.org to learn more about their amazing work.
As we sit behind our phone and computer screens, we all know that the days drag and the weeks fly by. It’s often too easy to get caught up in the everyday hustle and bustle and lose sight of what’s is really important in life. Having recently become a father to healthy and happy little girl, my perspective certainly changed and I can’t help but think about those parents and kids that are faced with unimaginable health struggles. If I can help support one smile, one opportunity for a kid to have a little fun in a difficult situation, I ask myself why not? Having spent the majority of my life on the ice, I’ve never been much of a runner, but the running is the easy part and with each mile I log I wonder, who’s really helping who? I appreciate anything you can do to support this cause and thank you in advance for helping me pay it forward.
