Every day in my role as the executive director of the Michigan American Diabetes Association I see how lives have been turned upside down when a child is diagnosed or an adult is told that they now have to live each day differently than before. Personally, I saw my father struggle mightily with this disease in his final years, losing much of his sight and eventually suffering a fatal heart attack due to his Type 2 disease. I am running my first half marathon in honor of my father and all those who are fighting each day to keep their disease in check. Please consider giving to my cause. Every dollar rasied will help me stay motivated through my training and the race in October.
