Debbie and I recently ran our first marathons in 20 years. Debbie ran the New York City Marathon in November 2018 (her 8th marathon!) and we both were able to run the Paris Marathon in April 2019.
Debbie and I are running the Chicago Marathon in October 2019. It will be Debbie’s 10th marathon and my 6th.
We are each partnering with a charitable organization as part of this race, and trying to raise funds to support wonderful causes.
I am joining the marathon team for Special Olympics Chicago. You can find more information about Special Olympics Chicago on their website (www.sochicago.org). Their mission is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. This gives them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
I would greatly appreciate any support you could provide to help Special Olympics Chicago continue to fulfill its mission.
Thanks in advance. I look forward to sharing photos of our training and (hopefully!) successful completion of the Chicago Marathon.
