The ongoing Ebola outbreak in North Kivu, Democratic Republic of Congo has been spreading at a rapid and alarming rate. Dataminr’s first urgents on the outbreak from local sources preceded the government's announcement by days, allowing critical time for aid organizations to mobilize resources, including vaccines. Two clients, Samaritan’s Purse and AIDS Healthcare Foundation, operate in the immediate area and expressed that this urgent was life-saving - it enabled them to reach out to personnel in the area, begin the process of delivering vaccines, and initiate emergency health processes.
To support on-the-ground medical aid in affected areas, we’re holding an Alert to Action campaign collecting donations for Doctors Without Borders. The organization has set up treatment units in the outbreak’s epicenter and nearby towns. Their teams are also providing training to surrounding health centers on infection prevention and control to ensure health systems remain functional and care for other patients maintained.
Donate now to help Doctors Without Borders respond to this medical humanitarian emergency and save lives.
