The American Heart Association believes that everyone deserves to live longer, healthier lives so they can enjoy more of life’s precious moments. We are fighting LA’s No. 1 and No. 2 killers – heart disease and stroke – by building a foundation of health in every neighborhood where healthy choices are easy and accessible for all, regardless of their freeway exit.
We give hope to those who are affected by heart disease, stroke, heart defects and other cardiovascular diseases by funding innovative research with the greatest promise to improve health, find cures and save lives. Through programs like Community STEPS, A Tu Salud and Check. Change. Control., we bring health and wellness resources and foster positive change in communities of need. Our Teaching Gardens and Kids Cook with Heart initiatives serve as real-life laboratories where students learn how to grow and cook their own food and value good eating habits. We create a community of lifesavers by empowering Angelenos, including youth, with the lifesaving skill of Hands-Only CPR. We create best practices and work with healthcare providers to better care for heart disease and stroke patients. And we drive lasting change by championing policies that protect public health and address socioeconomic barriers to health.
Your donation, volunteer and advocacy support, and participation in our events will help transform Los Angeles into a community where everyone can achieve the best possible health, free of heart disease and stroke. To learn more about us and to join the fight, visit www.heart.org/losangeles.
