Animal Care League found homes for over 800 cats, dogs, and rabbits (and a few birds and hampsters!) last year. We are hoping to have an even bigger impact on the lives of animals in need, and have set a goal of handing out 1000 second chances this year!
Last year, we were unable to participate in the nationwide Clear the Shelters event due to a lack of resources. Our adoption fees cover the expenses we put in to feed, vaccinate, spay/neuter, and treat injuries and illness for the animals in our care. As a smaller organization, losing out on those adoption fees can have an impact.
This year, we are committed to finding homes for 1000 animals. We know that pairing as many animals with loving homes on August 17th (Clear the Shelters) will surely help us acheive that goal.
Through the Fund the Shleters challenge we will have an opportunity to raise much needed funds to get as many animals ready for adoption as possible and to be able to offer waived adoption fees for the event.
The Fund the Shelters Challenge also gives us a chance to win up to $50,000! This would be instrumental to our shelter in helping us update our animal areas and expand our space, allowing us to help more animals and have an even bigger impact in our communuties!
Offering a second chance to all animals coming to our doors no matter age, size, or breed is a huge part of our mission and we thank you in advance for helping to Fund the Shelters and helping us win this challenge!
Animal Care League is an animal shelter and spay/neuter clinic in Oak Park. ACL has been helping animals in the community since 1973, and now takes strays from 7 surrounding villages. We also work to help local high-volume parters, have a spay/neuter clinic as well as a pet food pantry.
