I am United States Sailor, and I am also an (OEF/OIF) Combat Veteran who served in the Navy from 2000-2018. Serving in the military has given me great leadership qualities, education, and training but it has also given me a greater sense of duty to always be of service. I plan to share knowledge and spread awareness to help as many homeless women Veterans and their children to find safe and suitable housing.
As a Mother of two, I know it can be tough to work full time, raise children, and provide food and shelter. Today, the average working American is only two pay checks away from facing homelessness. I know this because I myself became very close to losing my home, my car, and everything around me once I left my job to focus on raising my two little girls. As a single parent I thought to myself, I am a highly educated combat veteran with years of experience, how could I be placed into a position to risk losing everything. If it wasn’t for my family and local organizations who provide assistants to veterans in need, I honestly believe my children and I would have gone through so much more before things got better.
Women Veterans are currently the fastest growing homeless population in America. Over half of homeless women Veterans are single mothers. Homelessness is a very serious problem in our country but being a woman veteran with children who is facing homelessness is UNACCEPTABLE. Please donate to the cause to help provide services for those currently in need!
