The Art Center of Burlington is looking for your support to continue our Artscapes program’s current offerings and expand our program to hospice care and a nursing home facility. Through this expansion, we will provide adaptive art opportunities to elderly, ill, and persons with special needs and/or disease. We will enrich our local community’s special populations quality of life through art making and creative experiences.
The Artscapes program goal is to provide quality and enriching art and art making experiences to diverse populations in our community, specifically, elderly in assisted living and nursing home facilities, therapy groups, and persons with special needs at little to no cost. We partner with local community organizations like, Great River Behavioral Health, Goodwill Heartland, Hope Haven, Optimae Life Services, and Bickford Assisted Living to provide enriching art experiences and projects to residents and cliente. Our artscapes instructor travels to organizations, host classes at the Art Center of Burlington, and teaches private lessons in residents’ homes to make our artscape program accessible and accommodating for clients.
Our Artscpaes instructor teaches private lessons and groups up to 12 individuals. She provides one-on-one instruction and assistance to our clientele throughout the art making process. She builds positive and professional relationships with each individual participating in the Artscape’s program. We now serve 21 groups from individuals to organizations on a weekly basis with over 115 participants each month. We serve individuals and groups from non-profit organizations, organizations for profit, and individuals.
The Artscapes program is accessible to individuals and organizations anywhere from free to a minimal charge, covering cost of materials. We make it a priority to minimize cost for our partnering organizations and individuals to ensure residents and clients have access to enriching art experiences we provide.
If we reach our campaign goal, we may be eligible for a $25,000 Gannet Grant to support the artscape program. The campaign that raises the most funds in our Tier will receive $25,000 grant from Gannet. We must raise a minimum of $3,000 to qualify for any grant or funding. With your help, we can support the Art Center of Burlington’s Artscapes Program and our mission to provide creative and enriching art experiences to special populations in Burlington! Thank you so much for your supporting the Art Center of Burlington!
“As a direct support person for Hope Haven, I truly enjoy being able to bring people to the art center. The smile I get when I tell them that is on the schedule for the day says it all. Going to the Art Center brings happiness to the clients. The instruction given really allows them to create something special. It gives them a feeling of accomplishment and brings a positive attitude. Everyone feels better about themselves when leaving the Art Center.” -Hope Haven
“Artscapes has been a blessing for our program and clients. We literally are able to escape the stresses of life and just relax and explore our creativity. Several of our clients have found that art can be a way to relax, a coping technique, a leisure activity and a way to learn about the many genres of art. We are very thankful for our time at the Art Center. Thank you for this opportunity.” -Goodwill of the Heartland
