Last year, on the same special day, we raised $23K, which allowed us to open our Pune Workshop last February. Any amount - no matter the size - counts and will bring us one step closer towards our goal. Plus, all donations -yes ALL donations...up to $25K!!- will be MATCHED by The Good People Fund, Hyatt and the Hilton Hotels & Resorts: ONE donation, DOUBLE the impact!
Here’s a breakdown of how your donation can have an impact:
~ $25 funds regular hygiene trainings for 1 classroom of 50 students in Bangalore for one month.
~ $50 subsidizes a month long training program for a woman from an underprivileged background to work with Sundara in Bangalore.
~ $100 funds one of our Sundara hygiene ambassadors for a month, including benefits such as health insurance for the women and their families.
A little more about how I got involved with Sundara...
My love story with Sundara goes back to October 2015 in Bangalore, as I was volunteering for one month on a WASH Project with Reaching Hand Trust in the city of Bangalore, India. Through very special connections, I had the opportunity to meet a fellow Canadian, Michelle Fusco, now Sundara's Executive Director, who was visiting Bangalore for the weekend. Back then, she was a volunteer for Sundara and I remember thinking how smart Sundara's soap recycling-soap distributing-women empowering and job creating-hygiene education promoting model was! From that moment, I had become totally obsessed by Sundara's work. When returning from my 1 year Round-The-World trip with my husband in the late Spring of 2016, I knew I had to get involved, so I contacted Michelle and Erin and became a volunteer for Sundara. Since then, it had been an honour to assist Michelle, Erin, our country directors Kenneth, Vismita, Thuya and Htar Htar, as well as our dynamic team of Board Members in expanding Sundara and its outreach. I also had the pleasure to be part of the opening of Sundara's third soap-recycling workshop in India, in the city of Pune last February, visit our Ashte and Kalwa locations, see the amazing work Sundara does on the ground and meet the extraordinary and hard-working women who make it happen on a daily basis, our Sundara Hygiene Ambassadors.
I am now beyond excited for the opening of our fourth soap-recycling workshop in India! And, I have to say, I am even more excited that it will be in a city that is extra close to my heart, where I was able to witness the great WASH needs with my own eyes back in October 2015 and also, at the very place where my Sundara love story all started.
Thanks for your help and support my friends :)
