This International Women’s Day (IWD), create a more gender-balanced world by putting weight on education.
From grassroots activism to worldwide action, we are entering an exciting period of history where the world expects balance. We notice its absence and celebrate its presence. Balance is not a women’s issue, it’s a business issue.
The race is on for the gender-balanced boardroom, a gender-balanced government, gender-balanced media coverage, a gender-balance of employees, more gender-balance in wealth... Gender balance is essential for economies and communities to thrive. Asian University for Women (AUW) believes that balance starts with education.
In honor of IWD, AUW, an international university in Bangladesh that seeks to educate a new generation of women leaders, is hosting a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for 10 student scholarships. AUW achieves balance by admitting students solely on the basis of merit, regardless of their family’s income level, and nearly all students are on full scholarship. AUW offers a pre-collegiate bridge program called Pathways for Promise to increase access to education within particularly marginalized populations, including Rohingya refugees, garment factory workers in Bangladesh, and tea plantation workers in Sri Lanka. All donations made to the crowdfunding campaign will benefit Pathways students.
Together, we can tip the scale towards a gender-balanced world.
15 donations of $10 will fund a student’s school supplies for the whole semester.
Let’s get started!
