As a runner, I’m no stranger to hard work and striving to reach difficult goals. Just like in life, athletes at every level struggle to overcome obstacles through training and dedication, and sometimes they don’t succeed. I admire the grace and strength of five-year-old Chad Carr and his family as they struggled with an unwinnable battle against Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), an inoperable type of brain tumor that affects children. While Chad lost his fight against the disease, he and his family embarked on a mission to change the result for other kids through the ChadTough Foundation, which strives to fund research and raise awareness for pediatric cancer with an emphasis on DIPG.
I am running the 2019 Charlevoix Marathon on June 22 in honor of Chad Carr and the many young lives taken by DIPG. My goal is to raise $700 for the 700+ cases of pediatric brain cancer that are diagnosed annually. You can help me reach this goal by supporting my run with a donation to the ChadTough Foundation. Any size donation can help turn this into a winnable fight. Thank you for your support!
