Note that the generosity of donations received to date (end-May) means that I have reached over $12,500 already and my confidence (hopefulness!) in the kindness of others means that I have increased my target to $20,000 – please keep giving!
On November 03, 2019 I will run the TCS New York City Marathon in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC. It will be my first at the ripe old age of 40!
In aid of this endeavor I am calling on you for a kind donation in support BBBS of NYC. Since 1904, BBBS of NYC has implemented their mission to give all children in New York City who face adversity an opportunity to experience a strong, enduring professionally supported one-to-one mentoring relationship with adults that will help change their lives for the better. There are over 500,000 children living at or below the poverty level in New York City and over 43% of children in New York City are from single-parent families. Every year, BBBS of NYC connects more than 5,000 of these kids with a “Big” who can help them believe that their present situation doesn’t have to be their future.
As a Big, I have had the privilege of delivering the mentoring value of the BBBS program first hand and I am constantly humbled by what the Littles teach us as they grow in confidence and success. For more details on BBBS of NYC visit https://www.bigsnyc.org/
I have an ambitious target (aside from the run itself!) to raise over $10,000! This is a high bar, yet, one I feel is appropriately commensurate to the run itself.
As always, any contribution made is neither too large nor too small and I fully understand that I may be one of many people that is asking this of you – although I make it a point of not asking often (nor undertaking activities like this often either!) so I plead for any donation you can make - every little helps but giving as much as possible is encouraged!
