The Big Sur Park School is a grassroots movement to create a new space for families and young children in Big Sur. In response to the closure of Gazebo Park School at Esalen Institute, there has been a huge outpouring of concern of how to meet the needs of local families. There has also been a great deal of support, organization, and mobilization of the community to create something new.
The Big Sur Park School's vision is to continue the magic of Gazebo by holding the core values of the pedagogy within a learning environment and curriculum based on children's curiosity.
***To support teacher, family, and community well-being as a model for children and to foster a love for learning, a respect for
community, diversity, and connection to nature.
***To expand the human potential movement to include childhood
***To be in service of the wonder of children by bringing awareness to learning and life.
We are in the process of creating an Early Childhood Center dedicated to serving the children, families and community of Big Sur by providing an environment and staff that stimulates experiential learning, social and emotional development, and a strong connection to the natural world.
