I am headed back to the start line of the Boston Marathon in 2019 in support of Boston Partners in Education and I’ll be doing it with my long-time running buddy, Samantha Ieva! Sam & I have been running buddies for close to 20 years and have enabled each other’s crazy ideas – like running marathons! We crossed the Boston finish line over a decade ago and are thrilled to have been given the opportunity to run it together, and to support an organization that is making such a difference.
Boston Partners in Education is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting students in the Boston Public Schools through in-classroom academic mentoring services. In the 2017-2018 school year, over 575 academic mentors reached over 3853 students across 50 public schools in the Boston area. Boston Partners supports students dealing with unique challenges - learning English, adapting to new environments, concerns over stress at home and safety in their neighborhoods. All of these challenges make it hard to learn and even harder to get ahead. The weekly personalized attention over the year provides an extra push to students who are falling behind their peers. Students matched with Boston Partner's academic mentors develop better study skills, earn higher grades, and increase their self-confidence.
We hope you will support Sam & I in our journey to the 2019 Boston Marathon and our goal to raise $20,000 combined for Boston Partners in Education. There is no specific pledge amount – all donations will be greatly appreciated!
Watch us run through slush and ice as we make our way to the big event on April 15! You can track our progress on MapMyRun and see updates on Facebook and Instagram. We look forward sharing this experience with you and the Boston Partners in Education Team!
