2018 marks 5 years after the marathon bombings. It also marks 5 years after my mother passed away from cancer. She was discharged from MGH at the same moment bombing victims were being admitted. These are difficult memories for me, but I believe I can heal from loss by living resiliently, and becoming a better person in memory of my mother. Why run a marathon? I tried running in high school and injured myself. Distance running has felt like an unfinished project ever since. I’m determined to become a better athlete, overcome my fears, and grow stronger as a person, to make my mom proud.
I’m running to fundraise for Bottom Line. Their mission is to help low-income first-generation students get in to college, graduate, and land a job. My family knows the importance of college access. My father was the first in his family to attain a college degree, my sister is a professor of education specializing in college access, and I worked in higher education for 7 years. I'm thrilled to run for this cause to empower families to go far. (See the Bottom Line website for more info)
My company Janeiro Digital is supporting me with a $500 bonus IF I get $2,000 in donations between March 30th and April 13th. Help me get that bonus by donating before the 13th!
Once you give, please share it on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram: #BottomLineGoFar
