Meet Jaylan, Jaila, and their tutor, Paul. The trio has been working hard this semester learning multiplication and division. When asked what their tutor has taught them, Jaila replied, “He has taught me how to do long division. He taught me in a way I never knew how to do.” Jaylan exclaimed that Paul “taught me how to divide better … [and] is always positive and understanding.”
Jaila and Jaylan’s success is made possible through generous support. This year, our university work-study and volunteer tutors provided individualized instruction to hundreds of students, bridging the gap between Boston public school students and the richest higher education environment in the world. Generous contributions make this work possible.
But our efforts are far from over. Only 30% of Boston Public School 8th graders met expectations on the Next Generation MCAS, and only 70.7% of Boston Public School students graduated from high school in four years. The time to act is now.
Our students’ success on their way to college and beyond relies on your support. Your tax-deductible donation will go today towards helping students realize their full potential.
Jaylan and Jaila’s story is one of many success stories we’ve experienced; but there can always be more. Jaylan and Jaila recommend tutorial to “all” of their friends, because “the tutors here are really good.” Your support will help make this possible.
