Together, we can ensure that all children in Detroit are reading at Grade Level.
Right now, an average of 14% of Detroit students are not reading at grade level by 3rd grade. 3rd grade is when kids start reading to learn, so not reading at grade level will harm their future education and, due to a change in the law, schools will be forced to hold these students back in 2 years.
We cannot allow this to happen to our kids. Brilliant Detroit is building kid success neighborhoods where families with children 0-8 have everything they need to be school ready, reading at grade level by 3rd grade, healthy and stable. Through four community homes and growing, we coordinate over 75 partnerships that provide proven programming to over 800 families.
We are stepping up with our families to be the backbone organization of Detroit’s Grade Level Reading Campaign. Brilliant Detroit’s model of coordinated and continuous, evidence-based programming is based on the belief that communities led by neighbors can transform Detroit, provided they have the resources that they need. We are building pathways to Grade Level Reading by supporting families with children 0-8 in accessing quality programs focused on education, health and family stability; programs that see the family holistically and can actually transform lives.
We ask you to join us in the Art Van Charity Challenge and expand these pathways to Grade Level Reading. With your partnership, we hope to raise $20,000, which will allow us to strengthen and expand our work in more communities as the backbone organization of Detroit’s Grade Level Reading campaign. We can also earn up to $100,000 as an additional prize if you, your friends and family support us with at least $10 each. We believe in a Metro Detroit powered by neighbors connecting with one another across zip codes, building Kid Success Neighborhoods for all of our kids. If you believe in this too then welcome aboard!
