The Brookmont Church has long been a hub of community life, a central place where neighbors gather and interact. Please consider supporting our vital community institution by joining with your neighbors to contribute to this 2017 year-end fund drive. For many Brookmont preschoolers, the first experience of school has come at the nursery school housed in the Church. Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Passover services are Brookmont traditions looked forward to each year. Interfaith services are offered each Sunday evening, featuring lively music, contemplative readings and time for community. There are morning services for families with young children, featuring songs, stories and activities for children and parents.
The Church is a place for neighborhood events and functions: preschool, Civic League meetings, girl scouts, community potlucks, children’s classes and activities, yoga, discussion groups, concerts, lantern walks, blue grass, weddings, baptisms, bar and bat mitzvahs, memorial services, and holiday celebrations.
The church continues to work at maintaining and improving the building to keep the building attractive and in good repair.
In 2018 we are investigating air conditioning for the social hall, which would make the building more usable in the summer months. The upstairs chapel has been recently refurbished, and the church study has been cleaned out and refurbished. We maintain and beautify the grounds with conservation landscaping recognized by Montgomery County’s Rainscapes program. We need your help to continue to operate, maintain, and improve this treasured old building. In a normal year, we can count on self-generated rental income for around 85 percent of the church’s annual income of about $90,000. Community contributions and fundraising activities account for the rest, allowing us to provide needed maintenance and to fund some improvements.
We thank you for your contrinutions and continued support of Brookmont Baptist Church, the cornerstone of our beloved neighborhood.
