As I begin my journey as the new theatre teacher at Cairo High School (CHS), I realize I have come full circle. This is where I began my theatre career. Winning the "Best Actress in the Region" in 1989, my passion for the arts took off.
Cairo High School has planted the seeds for the School of Fine Arts. Becoming a Ford Foundation Next Generation Learning designated school, CHS is dedicated to assist and inspire students in their journey of choice. The CHS School of Fine Arts brings arts disciplines together to educate and prepare students for a career in the arts.
Arts education is growing in small communities all over the nation. Studies show the arts impact a student's life in more ways than one. Americans for the Arts Facts & Figures shows how the arts can positively affect the entire school culture. Studying the arts encourages students to: stay in school, succeed in school, succeed in life, and succeed in work.
