November 19th is a special day. My sweet boy should be turning 15 years old, but childhood cancer took him at the age of 7. Caleb loved riding in our jogger from the time he was an infant. He loved the outdoors and the feeling of the wind on his face. When I push our athlete riders in races with Ainsley’s Angels, I often think about how much Caleb would have loved to help pull his runner across the finish line. This year, I want to honor his life in a way that captures his amazing spirit and love of the outdoors. My friend Kim Hetrick and I will be running in honor of Caleb’s birthday at the St. Augustine Half Marathon on November 12th. Kim is the Ambassador and I am the Lead Guardian Angel for Ainsley’s AngeIs* in Jacksonville, Florida.
We have been blessed with nine Freedom running chairs for our athlete riders, so far. Kim and I have been hauling these chairs and other equipment in our cars to the races. We are now in need of an enclosed trailer, which would also serve as storage for all of our equipment. Please join us in honor of Caleb’s birthday with a donation to help us secure a trailer.
I know my son is proudly watching over all of us as we continue to build awareness and spread the mission of inclusion in the communities of Jacksonville.
