The profile picture is of my beautiful mother-in-law Ria. Ria suffered from a disease know as depression. This disease eventully took her life. She had lost sight of light and life and hope...
On a beautiful spring day in June 2011, Ria walked down a wooded path and found a quiet spot where only the sound of water from a near by stream and the birds overhead could be heard. She sat down and soon was gone unable to see the beauty around her, unable to feel all the love of those she left behind....only darkness, only one path.
Our family lost a mother, grandmother and friend. Everyday for the many years she lived with us I would leave her a cup of coffee before I went to work...I wish I could enjoy one more cup with her.
I am running the BMO marathon this year and would like your help to raise 300 dollars (or more) to help those who struggle with Mental Health issues. I am training hard to run 42.2 KMs with strengh knowing that I have helped fight this disease.
Canadian Mental Health Association(CMHA) is one of Canada’s most established national mental health charities. Our vision is mentally healthy people in a health society. As the nation-wide leader and champion for mental health., CMHA helps people access the community resources they need to build resilience and support recovery from mental illness or addiction. We do this by building capacity, influencing policy, providing services and developing resources.
