Career Connect Rwanda is committed to reducing unemployment by bridging the skills gap among young adults in Rwanda, through equipping them with the skills necessary to adapt to the dynamics in the labor market.
Despite being one of the fastest growing economies in Africa today, Rwanda has seen a spike of 9.8 percent in its unemployment rate in only a few years, from a natural unemployment rate of 3.4 percent in 2012. While, there are hundreds of companies looking for talent to fill up positions, most companies have opted to hiring from other countries claiming that young Rwandans do not have the skills necessary to thrive at work. This not only undermines the many talented youth, but also leads to high unemployment and discourages self sustainability. We are stepping in to equip students with marketable and transferable skills through professional training and practice. Convincing Rwandans to invest in building local capacity will be one of our challenges.
