My cousin Conor McManus is a vibrant 10-year-old boy who has a lot more to deal with than most children his age. Since he was 4 months old, he has been battling a tumor condition called Neurofibromatosis that has caused him to have numerous surgeries, including one to remove his right eye. Through it all Conor fights this battle with a smile on his face! Conor and his family have to travel from their home in Charleston, South Carolina, to Philadelphia at least every 3 months for MRIs, numerous doctor visits, surgeries, etc. This condition, unfortunately, is progressive and the tumors are unable to be removed because they are wrapped around nerves and in areas of the brain that are inoperable. There is currently no effective chemotherapy against the tumors. Chemotherapy at best slows the growth of the tumors. As you can imagine this is very difficult financially. We want to reduce the financial stress, so they can focus their energy and time on loving Conor and reducing the emotional toll on the rest of the family.
