I’ve been involved with Cat Town since 2012, and I continue to be in awe of the transformations I see here every single day.
As Cat Town’s Deputy Director and Foster Coordinator, I oversee everything that has to do with our foster cats. As a volunteer at Oakland Animal Services, I help cats cope at the shelter, and when I see they’re out of options there, I bring them to Cat Town.
I love every part of helping cats in need, but my favorite part of this job is seeing the difference between the cat I identify who needs our help at the shelter and who that cat becomes in a foster home. I love seeing them reveal themselves, and letting their guard down. It is truly magical to watch them unfold!
You would think that after six years of doing this, I’d have come across every possible situation, but then I meet cats like Huey, or Didi, or Sati. With cats like these, I wonder how we can possibly help them, and I still get surprised at who they become once they get into foster care every single time.
It never gets old, because I never know who I’m going to meet when these cats transform.
At any given moment I have 100 cats on my mind, and at least twenty of those are cats at the shelter who I’m waiting to help. I’m fundraising today to make sure Cat Town can help each of these cats this summer. With kitten season upon us, and the shelter so desperately understaffed, I know cats just like Huey, Didi, and Sati will need us more than ever.
Please consider supporting my fundraiser to help me take every cat who needs a way out of the shelter and into a loving home.
