Catch Up & Read ("CAR") is a Dallas based 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to catch at-risk elementary students up to grade level reading by 3rd grade. CAR is research based and data driven, with over 90% of our students reaching basic to advanced grade level reading.
CAR has a 2-prong approach: 1) equipping campus teachers with leading edge literacy practices targeting at-risk students and 2) providing after-school tutoring for low performing students. This dual generation model ensures effective instruction and student achievement that meets the challenges of today’s public school children.
By training teachers, CAR develops the solid instructional foundation that delivers equitable education for every child in the classroom for years to come. This leveraged model enables CAR to reach hundreds of children and achieves long term, scalable improvement to our public schools.
Serving Dallas for 10 years, CAR is currently in 12 DISD Title I elementary schools. Because of our consistent results, we have a waiting list of over 15 schools. Every dollar raised allows Catch Up & Read to reach more teachers and deserving students, providing a solid foundation for academic and lifelong success that develops citizens who are contributors to the community.
$65,000 allows Catch Up & Read to expand to serve another Title I elementary school. CAR delivers the highest results at the lowest cost of other local literacy providers.
