I will be running the 9K Run to Home Base to raise money in support of The Home Base Program to raise money in support of Veterans and their Families. The Home Base Program is a 501c3 non-profit who helps Post 9/11 Veterans and their families heal from the invisible wounds of war - post-traumatic stress (PTSD) and traumatic brain injury (TBI) - through clinical care, community education and research.
I am running in memory of my grandfather and hero, Joseph Lyons, who passed away in December of 2014, as well as his brothers, John and Bob, who all fought in World War II. Today, with one in three returning Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans sustaining an invisible wound of war, it is our turn to act and help and serve them.
Home Base operates the largest private-sector program in the nation devoted to healing invisible wounds such as post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury, anxiety, depression, military sexual trauma and family relationship challenges. Since its inception, Home Base has served more than 15,500 Veterans and family members with care and support, trained more than 67,500 clinicians nationally and remains at the forefront of discovering new treatments ensuring a brighter future for the 21st century Warrior and Military Family – at no cost!
I am asking for your support today so the Home Base Program can continue supporting Veterans and their families at no cost. This is the 5th year I have participated in fundraising for this organization. Our Veterans are so important; that’s why I keep doing it. My goal this year is to raise $1,000. I want you to know that no donation is too small, and I truly appreciate any amount you could donate.
