We need your help! Did you know, roughly 15% of rural Americans are food insecure, meaning they don’t have access to food that allows them to live a healthy or active lifestyle?
Your donation will be used to help boost programs that fight food insecurity. Our work focuses on providing people the tools they need to put healthful food on their plates. One area we work in teaches the next generation to participate in growing their own food.
Donors like you helped us start the Greenhouse to Cafeteria program. This program helps students learn to grow their own food, and make their school meals healthier and more sustainable. This is particularly important in rural schools that have made tough budget cuts.
Growing food is an experience that benefits both students and educators. Hands-on activities like pulling weeds and snapping beans become math and science lessons. In some schools, the summers are used to teach the skills needed to run a market stand. Because of donors like you, the next generation is already equipped with the skills they need to grow their own food and start their own businesses.
Past donor support helped rural schools invest in healthier and beneficial options for their students. Today, you can help more rural students learn these important skills.
