A little about me
Hi, my name is Chase Ewing, I’m 12 years old and I’m preparing for my bar mitzvah, which will be in September. As part of becoming a bar mitzvah I am responsible for doing a “mitzvah project” where I choose to help the world in some special way.
How I'm hoping to help
By running lemonade stands throughout the Spring and through donations collected through this Crowdrise Page, I am hoping to raise money to help refugee kids who recently arrived in the United States go to The IRC's Refugee Youth Summer Academy (RYSA) in Union, NJ
RYSA has been created by the IRC of NY & NJ and is designed to help refugee children who recently arrived in the United States gain:
- a sense of belonging
- relationships with peers
- a sense of control
- feelings of self-worth
- sense of safety
- intellectual stimulation
- personal attachments
RYSA helps kids begin to heal and get ready to enter American schools in September.
It takes approximately $570 to fund a child who attends this program and I am hoping to help as many kids as I can.
Here's more detail on the program: RYSA NJ Fact Sheet (1)
How you can help
If you can, please join me in helping these children get a new beginning in the US.
