I couldn't be more thrilled to celebrate my 30th birthday by running the Chicago Marathon (in my hometown!) to support the Chicago Women’s Health Center.
CWHC’s mission is to facilitate the empowerment of women and trans people by providing access to health care and health education in a respectful environment where people pay what they can afford. (As in, no one is turned away based on inability to pay or insurance status.) The organization’s non-judgmental approach, combined with its emphasis on cultural competence, creates an environment in which individuals of diverse backgrounds and experiences are able to access quality, affordable health care services and education.
As a teenager, I myself took advantage of CWHC's incredible resources, so I'm grateful for the opportunity to bring support their way.
If you'd like to join me in supporting them - either because you like their mission, or have received quality health care yourself and want others to have the same (or even if you simply want to think of this as a 30th bday gift for me!), please consider donating. Here are a few services your donation would help provide:
- $20 – 1 Pap test
- $30 – 1 Plan B
- $70 – 1 full STI screen
- $150 – 1 primary care appointment or 1 annual gynecology exam
- $250 – 1 comprehensive sexual health education class for 25 youth
- $500 – appointments and screenings needed to initiate hormone therapy for 1 trans client
My gratitude and appreciation,
