This year, Carondelet Leadership Academy has joined the WE Schools Program, through which our students have come to realize the power of volunteerism and understand that even at a young age, they can make a difference in the world through their participation in service-learning initiatives. Our students have impacted the St. Louis community this year through numerous local service projects, but our Girls on the Run Club has decided to make a global impact by participating in a Walk for Water Campaign. Throughout the world, countless women and children in impoverished communities are denied access to an education because they spend their days walking miles to retrieve clean water for their families. But as little as $25 can provide one person clean water for life, allowing women and children instead to receive an education, and thereby empowering their communities to work toward greater self-sustainability. So, on May 12, our Girls on the Run Club will be running/walking in a 5K to raise money for the WE Schools Walk for Water Campaign and support global efforts to provide clean water to communities in need. If we are able to raise $500, we can provide 20 people with clean water for life, but we would love to raise even more money to help as many people as possible. Please consider donating to this worthwhile cause, and support our girls as they strive to make a positive difference in the lives of others! Thank you so much for your support!
