Clayton Schwartz was a student at Vanderbilt Law School, when his life came to a tragic end. While at Vandy, Clayton coordinated an amazing book drive service project that included his fellow law school students. He raised money and got children's books donated from many people and places - books that were donated to Book'em and that would bring hours of joy and entertainment to economically disadvantaged children in Nashville. He knew the power of books and reading. His enthusiasm was contagious. His dedication to this project was a true testament to the power that one person has to do good in their community.
After his death, the Vanderbilt Law School students wanted to honor Clayton. The Clayton W. Schwartz Memorial Book Drive was created. Ten years later, the book drive in memory of Clayton is still going strong. Vanderbilt Law School students continue to raise money and books in honor of him. They too know the power of books and reading.
Book donations will be accepted at Vanderbilt Law School April 17-27. All kinds of books, including textbooks and books for adults, can be donated. Monetary donations are also appreciated.
You can make monetary donations through this site or through PayPal at www.bookem-kids.org/donate or mail a check made payable to Book'em to 161 Rains Ave, Nashville, TN 37203. Please note that your donation is in memory of Clayton.
Join us in honoring Clayton's memory and helping Nashville's economically disadvantaged youth discover amazing books - books that will bring them comfort and joy and will help them develop a love of reading and stronger literacy skills, so they can pursue their dreams. With every $2 donated to Book'em through the Clayton W Schwartz Memorial Book Drive, an eager child will receive the gift of a book - a book that they select to become their very own.
Our goal is to raise $1,000, plus get 100 books donated! Help us reach these goals and create another massive book drive like Clayton did ten years ago. Bring comfort and joy to children through books!
