On June 2nd, in Kensington Maryland, we will be running/walking/volunteering in Colleen’s BA 5k. Colleen’s BA 5K was organized in memory of Colleen Mitchel, who was the daughter of one of Ann’s best friends and a flower girl in Ann and Bob’s wedding. Colleen was born with biliary atresia (BA) and died in 2013 at the age of 19 due to complications from liver disease, while awaiting a second liver transplant.
Every year for the past five years, Colleen’s family has organized Colleen’s BA 5K to raise money to help discover the cause of biliary atresia and support other families whose children suffer from liver disease. In the past, this event has raised over $100,000. This year, we are ramping up the fundraising effort and hope to double our past fundraising goals by including individual fundraising as part of our effort. It is our goal to personally raise over $1,000 for this worthy cause. This is where you come in. If you want to help us meet our goal, and support continued research for liver disease and to promote organ donation awareness, go to our personal fundraising site and make your donation TODAY! No amount is too small. Your gift will be 100% tax deductible, and you will receive a receipt from the Greater Washington Community Foundation. * Thank you for your support of our effort. Ann, Bob, Katie and Caroline Bittman
