I decided to participate as a rider because I've lost two people very close to me to cancer. I lost my father to lung cancer in 2013 after a brief 4-week battle. I then lost my father-in-law in 2017, after a yearlong battle with lymphoma. My father was my best friend. I could always talk to him about anything and he was always there for me. I was also very close to my father-in-law and he’s the main reason I always wanted to work in the pharmaceutical industry. He was my professional mentor and was instrumental in how I have navigated my career.
I am inspired everyday by the stories of perseverance and pure strength that so many cancer patients possess. It inspires me to be better. These people go through the worst possible struggle and have such a positive attitude and determination that it makes me realize that we shouldn't sweat the small stuff.
I hope to bring awareness to fighting cancer and raise money to help us defeat it. I also hope to inspire my children so they know that even when a battle seems impossible, there is hope.
My message to cancer
You have taken so much from me already...too much! Now it's my turn to fight back!!! We will win!
