On November 21, 2017, my mom passed away after a courageous battle with metastatic ocular melanoma, a rare and aggressive cancer, so I’m riding to honor my mom and all those battling, or who have battled cancer. I will also be riding for my cousin, Justin, who passed away from AML at 14, and my grandmother, Momoo, who passed from lung cancer. These three people played a very important role in my life and give me inspiration for the Coast 2 Coast 4 Cancer.
My mom was my best friend, my role model, and meant the world to me. Her incredible kindness, compassionate heart, optimistic attitude, contagious enthusiasm and unconditional love are traits that I try to embrace each day to honor her. This bike ride will be both mentally and physically challenging but to see my mom yearn to enjoy a walk on the beach or to play with her grandchildren without pain, I will ride with the conviction and strength that she exemplified each and every day.
I hope the awareness and fundraising will advance research and lead to a world without cancer!
My message to cancer
You will not win!
