On November 3, 2019, our team will be running 26.2 miles throughout the five boroughs of New York City for Cristo Rey New York High School.
Cristo Rey New York is transforming urban America, one student at a time. Located in East Harlem, Cristo Rey provides a college-prep education and corporate work-study program exclusively to students from low-income families. The average family income of a Cristo Rey student is $30,477, which adjusted for New York City living expenses leaves an available income of -$5,321. Yet, thanks to the commitment of the students, faculty, and staff, 98% of Cristo Rey's 861 graduates have enrolled in a four-year college, and 78% have either graduated college or are on track to graduate. Our alumni have attended some of the most prestigious schools in the country, including Princeton University, Brown University, Columbia University, Dartmouth College, Cornell University, the U.S. Naval Academy, Georgetown University, University of Michigan, Northwestern University, Williams College, and Middlebury College. They work at Barclays, Booz Allen Hamilton, and Thomson Reuters. They are earning advanced degrees in law, business, and medicine. Most importantly, our alumni are becoming men and women for others, helping to change lives just as Cristo Rey helped to change theirs.
Through the New York City Marathon, each of our runners have pledged to raise $2,500 for Cristo Rey New York High School, all of which will go directly to the cost of educating each student.
