I feel truly honored to be given this opportunity and look forward to embracing every step of this journey!! I’m riding for myself, my mom who passed away from cancer 12 years ago, and family and friends who have been impacted by cancer. Through her battle, my mom taught me how to: stay strong no matter what you’re facing; be thankful for every day that is given to you; never stray from your faith; and fight until your last breathe.
My mother was the most amazing, beautiful, and thoughtful person inside and out. She was my best friend and safe place and will always be my role model. I have personally experienced cancer after being diagnosed with Melanoma in 2014, and have many family and friends who have survived or lost their battle to cancer. It has inspired me to: be appreciative of every day and moment that is given to me; look fear in the face; not be embarrassed to express emotions and feelings; and know that someone else is always dealing with something worse than I am on bad days. I know I can make a difference but a community and team will accomplish more!!
My message to cancer
Cancer is evil, secretive, and my enemy. I will never give up on finding a way to stop you from ruining lives.
