Working as a researcher and physiologist for almost forty years, and finally retiring at 70, my grandfather had no idea that, a decade later, he wouldn't be able to remember any of it.
I am the granddaughter of a wonderful man who has Alzheimer’s disease. Watching his disease steadily progress over the past nine years has been devastating; however, my family and I are sustained by today’s steadily evolving technologies that aim to cure, or slow, Alzheimer’s disease.
My grandfather has given me so much, from lifting me on his shoulders to reach the cherry tree blossoms in his backyard, to teaching me seventh-grade biology, to clapping enthusiastically at my college graduation, and I’m passionate about supporting the fight against Alzheimer’s that can give others more time with their grandfathers – and grandmothers, and other family members.
1 in 3 people will die with Alzheimer’s, losing their memories perhaps to the point where they forget not only their lives, but also to eat and drink, and I want nothing more than to help change that statistic. With your gift, Cure Alzheimer’s Fund can make progress.
CureSong, a concert to fund Alzheimer's research, will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, at World Café Live. Join us as a sponsor by giving through this form, and get tickets at worldcafelive.com.
