What do your children do between the hours of 3 to 6 pm? For most of us, our kids have access to safe and enriching activities after school. But for many working families, they do not. In Dallas, over 80,000 children between 5 and 14 are alone each day between 3 and 6 pm. Dallas Afterschool exists to bridge this gap and ensure all children have access to quality out-of-school-time programs.
Afterschool programs help our community by:
· helping working parents
· keeping kids safe during hours when juvenile crime peaks
· providing healthy food and snacks to children
· and helping children thrive academically
Dallas Afterschool envisions a community with the resources and the will to provide impactful learning beyond the school day for all children. For 12 years, we have worked to level the playing field for children of all races and economic backgrounds by building a sustainable network of high quality out-of-school-time programs that serve 14,000 children in our community.
Today, we are helping our community thrive by connecting more families to afterschool and summer programs, working with community leaders to open afterschool programs where they are needed most, and helping those programs reach the highest quality levels in the country. Through these efforts, we are connecting children with resources, activities, and mentors that will help them succeed in school and beyond. Your support helps make this possible.
