ABOUT THE WALK
It's Back to School season and as a long-term @Dare2BNYC volunteer and advocate, Scott Kaplan is walking the length of Manhattan - 13.5 miles from Marble Hill all the way down to Battery Park on Saturday, August 25, 2018 - to equip homeless children in New York City with much-needed school supplies.
There are over 24,000 homeless children sleeping in a NYC shelter tonight. Every year many students struggle with the cost of basic school supplies. Backpack donations throughout New York City only provide children with enough supplies to last them 2 - 3 months.
With your donation of $25, we can equip Dare2B kids with ALL the additional school supplies they need to complete a successful school year along with hygiene essentials. This year we have made it even easier for you to join our efforts. You can
1) create your own team and join Scott in walking and raising funds or
2) click the DONATE NOW button to help Scott reach the fundraising goal of 100 school kits.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Through Dare2B homeless children will be equipped with the basic tools for development. Dare2B's school kits provide school supplies for the entire year. Dare2B's innovative rewards based solutions make transitional living less traumatic for homeless children ages 5 – 17. All Dare2B kids are provided with opportunities to earn each donated item and experience. Rewards points are provided to children as an incentive to promote good behavior and develop financial awareness. Children receive points based on behavior with staff, participation with Dare2B programs, collaboration with other Dare2B kids, completed Dare2B essays and | or assignments.
