A big heartfelt thank you to everyone who has donated so far! To date, we have raised $53,650 via this online platform and through other gifts sent to us in support of the race.
(To make a donation from your donor advised fund, simply recommend a grant to the Foundation for Financial Planning (Tax ID #: 58-1446336), choose “Sponsor a Friend (race, run, walk)” and add David Canter in the note. You may also mail a check to the Foundation.)
This year, thanks to the John Hancock Invitational Runners Program, my fifth consecutive Boston Marathon is also a fundraiser to benefit the programs of the Foundation for Financial Planning (FFP), the nation’s only nonprofit solely focused on delivering pro bono financial planning to people in crisis or need.
For me financial planning has been more than a career – it’s a calling. A noble profession that provides me with a unique opportunity to make a real difference in peoples’ lives. No organization represents this sentiment better than FFP, which makes financial planning available to those who need it most – to those often in their darkest hour. Their current Pro Bono for Cancer Campaign is driving the development and support of innovative financial planning programs for families affected by cancer, and their ongoing grantmaking efforts to connect other high-need populations – like military and veterans, low-income seniors, domestic violence survivors and more – to quality financial advice are making a powerful impact.
I am honored to serve on the Board of Trustees of FFP, and my wife and I are proud supporters of their impressive programming, including Pro Bono for Cancer. Your gift means so much to me and I hope to be able to thank you for it in person after the race. Until then!
