Dogwood Terrace Stables is a very special place where unwanted horses are rescued and those same horses help rescue people too.
Founded by Ginny and Daniel Pierce, the stable has more than 20 horses that came from situations of neglect and abuse. Adult and youth volunteers have lovingly rehabilitated the horses and continue to rehabilitate new horses. Many of the horses are in turn used in riding programs for children.
Their values are reflected in their mission statement: Our program exists to provide a haven for the development of emotional and physical well-being in children, adults, and horses. We strive to promote spiritual growth, self-confidence, and an attitude of acceptance and generosity toward ourselves, our horses, and others.
Sustaining the programs (often including financial assistance for the children) as well as vet and farrier care for the horses is dependent on donations. Help is needed this year to keep the horses fed and healthy. No donation is too small and all are greatly appreciated. As part of this year’s fundraising efforts, the riders of Dogwood Terrace Stables will present the 6th Annual Drill Team Performance & Live Nativity at 4pm on December 16th at the Riverbend Equestrian Center. Many of our more than 20+ horses come from hopeless situations of neglect and abuse, and are lovingly rehabilitated by children and volunteers who in turn find joy and a sense of purpose. Sustaining the Barn and riding programs for the children, many who require financial hlp to participate, add to the cost of keeping the Red Barn Open.
Supporting this many horses with vet and farrier care, hay and grain is expensive. We urgently need help this year to buy hay and grain to keep the horses fed and healthy. No donation is too small and all are greatly appreciated.
